There is a strong reason why one fails to keep one's resolutions. And I am entering the philosophical arena delving on human imperfections. Its a simple concept: time-inconsistency. This believe is the most common disease, if I can use that word. The smoker promises to quit from 15th January, say. And when you ask him on 14th, he has postponed it to 2oth. This is time inconsistency. The moment you can come over this, you have just won a treasure. And this is much more than teh habit of procrastination. There is an important difference between the two. If the smoker still keeps his resolution, and goes on to quit smoking, he has still procrastinated, but he is still time-consistent. And trust me, the latter 'imperfection' is a much bigger disease we all suffer from.

"Resolutions"
So the new year is here..and with it new hopes, new wishes and new resolutions...Its been a few years since I made a new year resolution..Not that I started disbelieving in the idea. Because to disbelieve in anything, you need a strong heart, though not a strong mind. And this part has eluded me till now. I just hope I improve on it this year too (yes I mean too). Again this is not a resolution. Because the moment you make it a resolution, you are targeting on it. And the moment you target it, you have just eluded yourself a path to achieve this. It should always be an unintended result. Infact, anything worthwhile should be an unintended result: courage, brutal honesty, wisdom or intelligence!
